ATC Development Breaks Ground on Urban Apartment Community The Standard

ATC Development will break ground on its first urban mid-rise community The Standard on Feb. 3 at 4 p.m.

The Standard will be the new entrance to Downtown Augusta in its premier location at 12th and Greene Streets, at the end of Calhoun Expressway.

A reception with light hors d’oeuvres will follow the groundbreaking at 1211 Greene Street at the Stovall-Barnes House, a historic home purchased and renovated by ATC Development.

Shelly Martin, the Vice President of Operations, is eager to see years of planning The Standard come to life.

“In the past few years, we have seen some exciting growth happening in downtown Augusta,” said Martin. “We are thrilled to finally be able to become a part of this growth and help meet the housing demand in such a dynamic area.”

The Standard will add 136 studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments to the growing downtown area.

The upscale community will feature a gathering space, salt-water pool, 24/7 fitness center, bark park and parcel package area. The rooftop sky lounge offers open-air spaces for relaxing, dining and socializing.

Commercial space is available on the first floor for a café or other possible accessible use.

“We are excited to build The Standard at the very gateway of downtown Augusta,” said Sherwood Belangia, CEO of ATC Development. “Our vision is to create the best living experience possible in the downtown area, and to contribute to the growing vibrancy of Augusta.”

ATC Development, based in Augusta, Ga., began developing multi-family communities in 1975. Its portfolio now consists of 11 properties and over 2200 units in the Southeastern region. ATC builds, owns and manages its own apartment portfolio – a process unique to the industry that the company credits to its sustainable success.
