About This Project
The Big Idea: A town center to be created north of the Municipal Building centering around Georgia and West Avenues.
Cost: Approximately $50 million private funds, $50 million public funds (in 2009 dollars).
Time: 5 to 10 years
Details: Create a vibrant main street down Georgia Avenue with a restored historic parks on one side and West Avenue on the other side. Add streetscaping, a mid-rise hotel of 100 rooms with conference center and commercial retail space. The mid-rise hotel has moved down the hill to Riverside Village.
Progress: Much development has happened on the North Augusta Town Center Market Creation Project. This is a complex project with many pieces. It includes the Municipal Building (completed), Jackson Square (completed), and the additional ongoing development on Georgia and West Avenues.
