Details: Hammond’s Ferry in North Augusta incorporates the planning features of a walk-able and mixed-use neighborhood of single and multi-family dwellings with classic historic Southern cities architecture. Located on the banks of the Savannah River, Hammond’s Ferry is a public-private project with LeylandAlliance, Westo Development Company and the City of North Augusta. The 195-acre riverfront setting includes a mixed-use town center with retail, restaurant, office and residential development, pedestrian walkways and public parks including access to the North Augusta Greeneway.
Through the years the project has been altered and interrupted by a number of surprises, such as barrow pits, thousands of waste bricks, environmental issues, and an archaeological find.
Currently, Hammond’s Ferry is full of activity with many new homes being built around the town center. An authentic French restaurant is one anchor of the town center and is a gathering place for residents of this unique development.
